Hailstorm, gusty winds likely to lash UP
LUCKNOW, March 15 -- The weather department on Saturday issued a yellow alert for several districts of Uttar Pradesh, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and possible hailstorms in parts of the state over the next two days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the change in weather is linked to an active western disturbance interacting with easterly winds in the lower troposphere. Due to this system, maximum temperatures across the region are likely to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next three days, while minimum temperatures may decline by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius between March 15 and March 17.
Rain and thundershowers are likely at a few places in western UP and isolated areas of eastern UP, with thunderstorms, lightning and winds of 30-40 kmph. Isolated hailstorms are likely in Terai and Purvanchal districts. On Sunday, winds of 40-50 kmph may hit Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur and nearby districts, while 30-40 kmph winds are likely in Gonda, Bahraich and Badaun. Banda recorded 38.4degC.
