GRP arrests man for hoax bomb threat to Charbagh station, airport
LUCKNOW, April 5 -- A 43-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly issuing a hoax bomb threat targeting Charbagh railway station and the airport.
The accused, identified as Umesh Kumar, resident of Bhilawa in Alambagh, was taken into custody by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Charbagh. Police said a mobile phone used to make the threat call was recovered from his possession.
According to officials, the threat was communicated via a call to a helpline, claiming explosives would be used at the busy railway station and the airport. The information was relayed to local authorities, prompting heightened security checks at sensitive locations.
During interrogation, Kumar revealed that the threat was fabricated with the intention of implicating an acquaintance, Kartike, following a personal dispute involving his wife. Police said Kumar used a mobile number linked to the acquaintance while making the call to mislead investigators.
"A case was registered promptly and technical surveillance helped identify the caller. The accused was arrested and produced before the court," a GRP officer said.
"An FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at GRP Charbagh police station. Kumar has been remanded to judicial custody," a GRP statement added....
