Green Corridor wilts before debut
LUCKNOW, March 7 -- Saplings planted along the Green Corridor stretch (connecting Samta Mulak Crossing to the Hanuman Setu) have dried up, highlighting the lack of maintenance by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), just ahead of the official inauguration of the Green corridor.
The LDA had planted a number of saplings on the road dividers as part of the corridor's beautification ahead of its proposed inauguration. However, many of the plants withered within a short span as officials failed to ensure regular watering and upkeep.
"No one came to water them regularly and several saplings dried up," said a local resident who frequently travels along the route.
The Green Corridor project is one of the key road infrastructure initiatives in the city. The project aims to create seamless north-south connectivity across Lucknow by linking IIM Road to Kisan Path through Shaheed Path.
Authorities expect the Corridor to reduce traffic pressure on several internal roads and provide smoother movement for commuters.
