Green Corridor flyover to open before Diwali
LUCKNOW, Oct. 7 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will open the Daliganj-Pucca Pul flyover before Diwali, completing the final missing link of the Green Corridor and making the 13.5-km stretch between IIM Road and Samta Mulak Crossing fully operational.
LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar inspected the project on Tuesday and directed officials to complete the remaining work before the deadline. The 1.1-km, two-lane flyover will connect Daliganj Rotary with Pakka Pul and reduce travel time between the two points to around two minutes, the authority said in a press release.
The update follows HT's October 3 report on the proposed opening of the final link, which also flagged the possibility of a traffic bottleneck near Teele Wali Masjid because of pending work around the junction.
To address the concern, the LDA has planned an integrated rotary near Teele Wali Masjid to ensure smooth traffic movement after the flyover opens. The authority will also remodel the existing rotary near Mari Mata Temple to provide a four-lane passage for vehicles.
Kumar said the flyover rises around 25 metres above ground level. Workers have completed its structural construction and are now laying asphalt and installing street lights. The LDA aims to complete the remaining work before Diwali.
The new link will provide direct connectivity from pucca pul towards Samta Mulak Crossing and benefit nearly 10 lakh people living in Old Lucknow.
The integrated rotary design follows a traffic survey conducted by a joint team from IIT-BHU and VNIT Nagpur, the LDA said.
Kumar added that Setu Nigam is constructing a new bridge over the Gomti near Pucca Pul. Once the new bridge becomes operational, authorities plan to stop vehicular movement on the existing Pucca Pul and convert it into a dedicated pedestrian bridge....
