Govt releases Rs 1,240 cr second instalment under Vidhayak Nidhi
Lucknow, Sept. 8 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the release of Rs 1,240 crore as the second and final instalment of the financial year 2026-27 under the Legislative Assembly Constituency Development Fund (Vidhayak Nidhi) for development works in the constituencies of Members of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council (MLAs and MLCs).
According to a government order issued by the rural development department on Monday, the amount has been sanctioned for 496 members-397 MLAs and 99 MLCs. The state has a total of 503 members in the two Houses, with six Assembly seats and one Legislative Council seat currently vacant.
Under the scheme, each eligible MLA and MLC will receive Rs 2.50 crore, including GST, for development works in their respective constituencies.
The government had earlier released the first instalment of Rs 1,247.50 crore for the financial year 2026-27 through an order dated April 21, 2026.
The newly sanctioned funds will have to be utilised strictly in accordance with the guidelines and provisions governing the Constituency Development Fund and subsequent government orders....
