Governor unveils logo for Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University centenary year
Agra, May 14 -- Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel, on Tuesday evening, released the centenary year logo, a brochure and the magazine 'Vani' for Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (formerly Agra University). The institution, established on July 1, 1927, will mark its centenary on July 1, 2026. The governor also released the design for a commemorative souvenir coin and a special postal stamp set to be issued on the centenary date.
The ceremony was held at Jan Bhavan in Lucknow. Key attendees included minister for higher education and Agra South MLA Yogendra Upadhyaya, vice chancellor of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University professor Ashu Rani and principals of affiliated government and aided degree colleges.
In her address and subsequent review meeting, governor Patel stressed the need for active student participation in university and college activities. The review focused extensively on critical aspects such as academic standards, research work, infrastructure, syllabus, faculty availability and strategies for achieving better national rankings.
The governor expressed concern over vacancies in Group C and D university posts, calling for time-bound, merit-based appointments and urging universities and affiliated colleges to coordinate in resolving administrative issues.
She also focused on the welfare of girl students who are victims under the POCSO Act, emphasising the need for skill development programmes, including smart classes, computer training, martial arts, and stitching.
She further suggested that the 'Somnath Swabhiman Parv,' currently held nationally, should be organised at the university and college levels....
