LUCKNOW, Sept. 14 -- Gonda police have registered cases against two people over separate social media posts related to the murder of trader Vinod Kumar Sahni, alleging that the content could disturb public order and social harmony. Colonelganj police on Sunday booked a member of the Nishad community for allegedly posting that he would organise a village feast if those responsible for Sahni's murder were killed. Separately, Itiyathok police booked a woman social media creator over a video in which she allegedly claimed that a key suspect had been falsely implicated by members of the Nishad Party. Police said the video also contained references to "life for life" and remarks concerning the administration. Circle Officer Sadar Abhishek Dawacha said cases had been registered under relevant provisions and the allegations were being investigated. The cyber cell is examining the video and its circulation. Sahni, 45, was attacked by a group of men on September 9 while returning home after closing his utensils shop and died during treatment at KGMU in Lucknow.
