Gold trader shoots self in Lko's Para
Lucknow, April 23 -- A 55-year-old gold trader allegedly died by suicide using his licensed firearm at his residence in the Para area on Wednesday, with the extreme step coinciding with a court hearing.
The incident took place at Bhaptamau near Budheshwar Crossing under Para police station limits.
According to the police, the man went to a room on the first floor of his house around 11:30 am and shot himself with his licensed gun. Family members rushed after hearing the gunshot and found him lying in a pool of blood. He had died on the spot.
"Police teams reached the location soon after receiving information and carried out necessary proceedings. The weapon was recovered from the scene and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination," said Para SHO Suresh Singh.
In an official statement, Lucknow Police said that prima facie the incident appears to be linked to a family dispute, though all angles are being thoroughly investigated.
Police sources said the man had been under stress due to an ongoing dowry-related case involving a family member, which was listed for hearing on Wednesday.
Most family members had reportedly gone to attend the court proceedings at the time of the incident, while two women in the house were in separate rooms. Police statement said the deceased, originally from Kasganj, was living in Lucknow with two sons and their families, while other family members reside in his native district. Statements of relatives and neighbours are being recorded as part of the investigation.
Officials maintained that while initial findings point towards a domestic issue, the exact cause behind the extreme step will be established after the post-mortem report and detailed probe....
