Global panel of legal luminaries visits OBA, discusses AI and law
Lucknow, March 14 -- An international delegation comprising judges, barristers, law professors and advocates from the United Kingdom and the United States visited the Oudh Bar Association (OBA) of the Lucknow high court on Friday and interacted with office-bearers and members of the association on several issues, including 'AI and the Legal Profession: Replacement or transformation of lawyers'.
Advocates Harjot Singh, Vivek Kumar Rai and Kartikay Singh organised the event.
Hailing from Lucknow, Harjot Singh practises law in England and Wales. He is solicitor advocate, Supreme Court of England and Wales. Singh is also director of Twinwood Law Practice Limited, Birmingham, England.
The delegation discussed the rich history of the Oudh Bar Association and exchanged views on the judicial systems and court functioning in the UK and the US. Later in the evening, in another session, they discussed 'Legal Opportunities in the Emerging World Order: Trade and Strategic Partnerships between the United Kingdom, India and the United States- A Judicial Perspective'.
The visitors were accorded a warm welcome by the OBA's office-bearers and the programme was presided over by the OBA president Pandit S Chandra, while general secretary Lalit Kishore Tiwari conducted the proceedings.
Judges of the Allahabad high court's Lucknow bench-justice Saurabh Lavania, justice Rajeev Singh, justice Subhash Vidyarthi and justice Brij Raj Singh-were present on the occasion.
Senior advocate Anand Mani Tripathi and additional advocate general Kuldeep Pati Tripathi were also among those who attended the interaction.
The visiting delegation included several prominent legal professionals, including Baldip Singh, Peter Graham Clark, Satvinder S Jass, Manpreet Kaur Singh, Sukhvinder Kaur, Jinder Singh, Rajpal Kaur, Justin Wong, David Josse KC, Ruth Barber, Irvinder Bakshi, Charan Sandhu, Jaspreet Sandhu, Sanjay Toora, Geraldine, Ishpal Singh, Jagdeep,Sanjay Toora, Myia Biring, Rupinder Kaur, Sharandeep Sahota, Jotti Kaur, Geraldine, Iqbaldeep Singh, Lovejoyt Singh, Sachman Kaur and Gurtej Singh Lidhar.
Lalit Kishore Tiwari, general secretary of the OBA, also expressed special gratitude to advocates Harjot Singh, Vivek Kumar Rai and Kartikey Singh for facilitating the visit of the international delegation to the Oudh Bar Association.
