GORAKHPUR, April 16 -- Gorakhpur scripted a remarkable achievement by setting a world record through a large-scale Artificial Intelligence (AI) awareness programme, registering more than 7.64 lakh participants within a week, officials said on Wednesday. Officials at the CM Camp Office in Gorakhpur stated that the "AI for All" campaign was organised with the support of various academic institutions and technology partners. The initiative aimed to promote digital literacy and the responsible use of emerging technologies among students and the general public. Participating institutions included Maharana Pratap Institute of Technology in collaboration with Madan Mohan Malviya Technical University, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, and others. The initial target of registrations was set at five lakh. Officials noted that the record-setting initiative reflects Gorakhpur's growing prominence in technology education and digital outreach, marking a significant step toward enhancing AI literacy in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The awareness drive covered AI fundamentals, generative AI tools, productivity applications, and the ethical use of technology. It also included sessions on cyber safety and digital fraud prevention. On Wednesday, a representative of Guinness World Records, Shri Nath, handed over the certificate recognising the achievement to Tata Consultancy Services chairman N Chandrasekaran and chief minister Yogi Adityanath. According to the organisers, the initiative was conducted in collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
