Gorakhpur, April 25 -- A prominent Gorakhpur businessman, who was also a club owner and secretary of a mandir committee, allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with a licensed pistol at his farmhouse around 10 am on Friday. According to police, the deceased drove alone to his farmhouse and, shortly after arriving, allegedly shot himself. Nearby residents, hearing the gunfire, alerted authorities. He was found critically injured with a gunshot wound to the face and was rushed to BRD Medical College, where doctors declared him dead. SP City Nimish Dashrath Patil confirmed the preliminary findings to the media. "Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. CCTV footage shows the deceased arriving alone from his residence and proceeding to the first floor of the farmhouse," Patil said. "However, we are investigating all possible angles to rule out any foul play." Officials added that statements of family members and associates are being recorded to establish the sequence of events.
