LUCKNOW, July 26 -- The Giri Institute of Development Studies (GIDS) on Saturday launched the Lucknow Dialogue 2026, aiming to establish the city as a platform for evidence-based policymaking and national economic debate. The inaugural dialogue brought together economists, policymakers and administrators to deliberate on global crises, India's economic resilience, and Uttar Pradesh's roadmap to becoming a trillion-dollar economy. Former NITI Aayog vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar, former RBI deputy governor Rakesh Mohan and SBI group chief economic adviser Soumya Kanti Ghosh were among the key participants. The discussions focused on geopolitical tensions, trade fragmentation, climate risks and technological disruption, with experts emphasising the need for India to shift from short-term crisis management to a long-term strategy. The state-focused session underscored the need to align economic growth with employment, women's workforce participation, human development and effective policy implementation.
