VARANASI, July 27 -- Geo-fencing and anti-drone systems will be deployed to ensure foolproof security at Baba Kashi Vishwanath Dham and its surrounding areas during Sawan, which begins on July 30, said Varanasi police commissioner Mohit Agarwal. Agarwal said that the geo-fenced security zone will be created around the temple, and any unauthorised drone entering the restricted airspace will be immediately neutralised by the anti-drone system. He added that flying private drones without permission will remain strictly prohibited throughout the Shravan period. He said the Varanasi Commissionerate's 10 drones will be deployed to monitor the Kanwar Yatra route, the Baba Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple complex, major ghats, traffic movement and crowd management. Two tethered drones will also be stationed at strategic locations to provide round-the-clock live surveillance. Agarwal said Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras installed at the city's entry points will identify every vehicle, while facial recognition cameras at major intersections and sensitive locations will help detect suspicious individuals.
