PRAYAGRAJ, June 17 -- In a major crackdown on organised crime, Prayagraj Police on Tuesday attached immovable property worth approximately Rs.1.11 crore allegedly acquired through criminal activities by notorious gangster and gang leader Dilip Mishra under the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986. The attached property comprises two parcels of agricultural land located in Silaundhi Kala village of Khairagarh pargana in Meja tehsil of Prayagraj district. The land, spread over portions of plot number 248, has an estimated market value of Rs.1.11 crore, officials said. According to police, the action was taken by a team led by assistant police commissioner Sunil Kumar Singh following an investigation into Gangsters Act case number 218/2020 registered at Industrial Area police station. During the probe, police gathered evidence indicating that Dilip Mishra, a resident of Lawaayan Kala village under the Industrial Area police station limits, had allegedly amassed the property using proceeds of crime and registered it in the names of his relatives, including his sister-in-law Pushpa Mishra and daughter-in-law Veera Mishra. Based on the findings, a report was submitted before the police commissioner's court, which, after examining the records and evidence, ordered attachment of the property under Section 14(1) of the Gangsters Act. The station house officer of Khiri police station has been appointed as the administrator of the attached assets, officials said. Police officials said further investigation is underway to identify and initiate legal proceedings against other movable and immovable assets allegedly acquired by the gangster through illegal means.
