PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 15 -- The two-day Global Alumni Meet (GAM) 2026 at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT-A) concluded on Monday with discussions on strengthening industry-academia collaboration, innovation, entrepreneurship and research, alongside the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an alumnus. The event brought together institute officials, alumni, industry leaders, researchers and students to explore opportunities for collaboration in emerging technologies and startup development. Addressing the gathering, IIIT-A director Prof Mukul S Sutaone said the institute is working to bridge the gap between academic curricula and industry requirements through agile curriculum updates and faculty development initiatives. He urged faculty members to engage directly with industry experts to facilitate knowledge exchange and expose students to real-world challenges, while also highlighting the need to strengthen research and development in emerging fields. He also appreciated Disseqt AI for its collaboration with the institute. Dean Alumni Prof Anupam Agarwal said the initiative aims to build a strong ecosystem for research, deep innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship. The programme also featured a student project exhibition and startup presentations by five IIIT-A incubated ventures before industry delegates. Delivering the keynote address, Disseqt AI founder and CEO Apoorva Kumar, an IIIT-A alumnus, spoke about the practical application of artificial intelligence in business operations while underscoring the continued importance of human intuition. Another alumnus, Anshuman Patro, shared insights from global entrepreneurial ecosystems. An MoU was signed between Patro and IIIT-A during the event. The conclave concluded with a panel discussion on problem identification, innovation and solution development.
