Full emergency declared for diverted Akasa Air flight in Lko
LUCKNOW, May 28 -- An Akasa Air Bengaluru-Bhubaneswar flight with 194 passengers on board was diverted to Lucknow on May 27 after bad weather conditions at Bhubaneswar prevented a safe landing.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 operating as flight QP 1503, was en route to Bhubaneswar when it encountered operational constraints due to bad weather, leading the crew to opt for Lucknow as the designated alternate airport.
The aircraft landed safely, but the diversion later resulted in a full emergency declaration due to fuel-related operational concerns during the sequence of events. The situation escalated at 21:02 IST when air traffic control declared a full emergency as a precautionary measure after the aircraft was assessed to be in a low fuel state during diversion management, airport authorities said.
Following the emergency declaration, airport emergency response services were immediately activated. Crash fire tender units were positioned at designated standby points for full emergency situations.
Despite the emergency status, the aircraft continued its approach to Lucknow and successfully landed on Runway 09 at 21:21 IST. The landing was reported to be normal with no technical abnormalities observed.
Immediately after touchdown, the pilot-in-command confirmed that all aircraft systems and operations were functioning normally and stated that no external assistance was required. This communication allowed ground emergency teams to maintain standby readiness without escalation.
Following landing, the aircraft taxied safely to Bay 10, completing the arrival sequence without further disruption. With the aircraft safely parked and no operational issues reported, ATC officially withdrew the full emergency declaration at 21:30 IST, restoring normal airport operations shortly thereafter. There were no reports of technical failure, structural issues, or emergency evacuation procedures....
