Fuel prices continue upward march in Lko
LUCKNOW, May 24 -- Petrol and diesel prices in Lucknow continue their steady climb, with the latest increase on Saturday pushing petrol from Rs.98.42 to Rs.99.28 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) from Rs.91.73 to Rs.92.64 per litre. Premium fuels also became costlier, with XP95 petrol reaching Rs.107.86 and XG premium diesel touching Rs.98.25 per litre, bringing premium diesel close to the Rs.100 mark.
The latest hike is part of a steady rise in fuel prices since May 15. On that day, petrol prices jumped from Rs.94.69 to Rs.97.55 per litre, while diesel rose from Rs.87.81 to Rs.90.82. Premium fuels also saw sharp increases, with XP95 going up from Rs.103.14 to Rs.106.13 and XG premium diesel from Rs.93.42 to Rs.96.43 per litre.
Another revision on May 19 pushed petrol prices up by Rs.0.87 to Rs.98.42 and diesel by Rs.0.91 to Rs.91.73 per litre. XP95 petrol rose to Rs.107, while XG premium diesel increased to Rs.97.34 per litre.
The latest revision saw petrol climb further to Rs.99.28 per litre, diesel to Rs.92.64, XP95 to Rs.107.86 and XG premium diesel to Rs.98.25 per litre.
Officials of oil companies attributed the successive hikes to fluctuations in global crude oil prices, rising refinery costs and higher distribution expenses. With petrol and premium diesel nearing the Rs.100 mark, residents and commercial vehicle operators are expected to face increased transportation costs....
