FSDA reshuffles 27 food safety officers across urban, rural Lucknow
lucknow, July 8 -- In a major reshuffle aimed at strengthening food safety enforcement, the Lucknow district administration has transferred 27 food safety officers (FSOs), assigning them to urban municipal zones and rural tehsils. The move is intended to enhance monitoring, inspections and enforcement under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The transfer order, issued with the approval of the district magistrate, reorganises the deployment of food safety officers across all six municipal food safety zones and the tehsils of Malihabad, Mohanlalganj, Bakshi Ka Talab and Sarojininagar. Several officers have been moved from urban zones to rural tehsils, while others have been reassigned to city jurisdictions to ensure a more balanced distribution of manpower and strengthen enforcement across the district.
FSDA assistant commissioner VP Singh said the reshuffle has been undertaken to improve administrative efficiency, prevent prolonged postings in the same area and enhance the effectiveness of food safety surveillance. The exercise also accommodates newly appointed food safety officers, who have now been assigned their first field postings.
According to the order, the transferred officers have been directed to hand over charge and assume their new responsibilities within three working days. They have also been instructed to submit joining reports to the designated authority immediately after taking charge.
The reshuffle comes at a time when the food safety and drug administration has intensified inspections across Lucknow to curb the sale of adulterated and substandard food products.
