From campuses to offices, green message spreads
LUCKNOW, June 6 -- Awareness programmes and plantation drives were organised by various institutions on the occasion of World Environment Day on Friday.
At Lucknow University (LU), programmes were held at multiple levels, culminating in a week-long plantation drive. Jointly organised by the EIACP Centre, Institute of Wildlife Sciences, Neva Foundation, and the department of zoology, the 5-day campaign (from June 1 to 5) witnessed the planting of 72 saplings across various campus locations, including the zoology department, DSW Office, 18 hostels, ONGC CAS Building, and the Administrative Building.
Marking the conclusion, vice-chancellor prof JP Saini planted saplings of Sandalwood, Rudraksha, and Sindoor. He also distributed 50 cloth bags among the university's class III and IV employees, urging everyone to completely renounce single-use plastic in daily life.
Inspired by the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" initiative, trees were planted at the Institute of Management Sciences (IMS) campus. Meanwhile, a poster exhibition and cleanliness drive were organised by the botany department.
In association with Medanta Hospital, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University organised a health awareness session - "Living in Harmony with Nature".
The environmental science department at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), in collaboration with CSIR-NBRI, hosted a programme 'Inspired by Nature: For Climate, For Our Future'. Bhatkhande Sanskriti University also conducted a plantation drive....
