MEERUT, Sept. 14 -- Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, will complete 25 years of its academic journey on Monday (September 14), marking its evolution from a single college established in 2001 into a multidisciplinary university spanning education, healthcare, innovation, sports and international collaborations. The journey began with Teerthanker Mahaveer Institute of Management and Technology College, offering degree programmes in computer science, management, science and technology. The establishment of a dental college in 2005 and a medical college in 2008 expanded its healthcare education portfolio. Founder chancellor Suresh Jain said the university's next phase would continue to focus on education, healthcare, innovation and social responsibility. Today, TMU has 16 colleges offering nearly 150 undergraduate and postgraduate professional programmes, with over 1,000 faculty members and more than 16,000 students from across India, Nepal and Bhutan. The university has also provided scholarships to meritorious and needy students. Healthcare remains a key component, with its 1,000-bed hospital offering free treatment. Since 2008, it has reportedly registered more than 65 lakh patients and conducted over four lakh surgeries. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospital served as a Level-3 facility. TMU has also hosted national sporting events and established an Institute Innovation Council and Business Incubation Centre. International partnerships, student exchanges, dual-degree programmes and collaborations with institutions in several countries have expanded global opportunities.
