New Delhi, March 1 -- France will confer a top civilian honour, the Legion of Honour, on India's former envoy to Paris, Jawed Ashraf, at a ceremony in New Delhi on March 18. The 1991-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer is being recognised for his contribution to the promotion of the India-France strategic partnership. The decision was announced by Anne-Marie Descotes, France secretary general for foreign affairs, at Ashraf's farewell reception on December 19, 2024. The French Ambassador will present Ashraf with the insignia of Commandeur de la Legion d'Honneur (Commander of the Legion of Honour) at a formal ceremony on March 18.
