Agra, June 22 -- A four-year-old girl was allegedly abducted, raped and killed in Kasganj, following an enmity stemming from a pradhan election in her village. The accused was arrested on Sunday. A case was registered at the Ganjdundwada police station in Kasganj district after the child's body was discovered earlier this month. ADG (Agra Zone) SK Bhagat visited the site on Saturday to issue directives. According to a press statement from the Kasganj police media cell, the accused, Kamlesh Shakya (a resident of Baharpur village), admitted during questioning that he held a grudge against the victim's family over a 2021 pradhan election. "The accused, Kamlesh, 50, along with a co-accused named Ajay, abducted and murdered the four-year-old girl," said ASP Sushil Kumar, who noted that the suspect had confessed to the crime. Case number 145 of 2026 was registered under sections 137(2) (kidnapping), 103(1) (murder), 238 (causing disappearance of evidence), 65(2) (rape), 66 (causing death) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as the POCSO Act for sexual offenses against a minor....
