Four pilgrims killed as car rams truck on Azamgarh-Vns highway
VARANASI, June 14 -- Four people were killed in a collision between a car and a truck near Bardiha Turn on the Azamgarh-Varanasi National Highway under Devgaon police station area in Azamgarh on Saturday, police said.
The deceased were identified as Hafiz Razzaq (59), Arbaaz Khan (22), Sohrab (55), and Mohammad Kaif (57) dead. All four were pilgrims returning home after offering prayers at Kichhauchha Sharif when the accident took place.
Five residents of Mohaniya village in the Medininagar (Daltonganj) area of Jharkhand's Palamu district had travelled by car to the Kichhauchha Dargah in Ambedkar Nagar. They were returning to their homes in the Daltonganj area when the accident occurred, said police.
According to police, the car was travelling at high speed towards Varanasi when the driver lost control near Bardiha turn and crashed into a truck moving ahead. The collision was so intense that the car was completely mangled. All occupants were trapped inside the vehicle after the accident. Police arrived at the scene after being alerted by passersby.
Upon receiving information about the accident, Devgaon police station and a rescue team rushed to the spot. Police and local residents rescued the injured and took them to the hospital by ambulance. Doctors at the hospital examined and declared Haji Abdul Razzaq, Arbaaz Khan, Sohrab, and Mohammad Kaif dead.
The police have sent the bodies for postmortem and informed the families....
