Four booked for allegedly setting youth on fire in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, July 27 -- Police have registered a case against four people, including a woman, for allegedly setting a youth on fire in the Kydganj area. The case was registered after the victim's family alleged that he was lured to the woman's house and set ablaze by her and her relatives.
The victim, who suffered severe burn injuries, is undergoing treatment at SRN Hospital. His condition remains critical, police said.
According to police, the woman, a native of Mau district, had been living with her family in a rented accommodation in Kydganj. The victim, a local resident, was acquainted with her. Police said the woman had recently married a man from her native village and was living in Ahmedabad. She had returned to Kydganj about a week before the incident.
In the early hours of July 23, residents rushed to the woman's house after hearing cries for help. They found the youth engulfed in flames. The residents extinguished the fire and rushed him to SRN Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, a video of the injured youth has gone viral on social media. In the video, he alleges that the woman had called him to her house. He further alleges that she and her two brothers poured a flammable substance on him and set him on fire.
Kydganj station house officer (SHO) Pritam Tiwari said that an FIR was registered on the complaint of the victim's mother. The case has been registered against the woman, her mother and her two brothers under relevant sections.
The victim remains in a critical condition and further investigation is underway, he added.htc...
