Dehradun, Sept. 21 -- Uttarakhand Forestry Training Academy in Haldwani has decided to waive accommodation charges for forestry students from government institutions visiting the academy for educational training and study tours, to promote ecological study, officials said on Sunday. Under the initiative, students will be allowed to stay free of charge at the academy's Mayuri Hostel, where accommodation was earlier charged at Rs.300 per day per room which was same as applicable to government employees. Sanjeev Chaturvedi, chief conservator of forests and director, Uttarakhand Forestry Training Academy, had moved the waiver proposal on September 9th which was finally approved on 16th. It is initially being introduced on an experimental basis for 15 days. The exemption may be extended to 30 days depending on its utility and success, officials said. The decision followed a request from the College of Forestry, Ranichauri, part of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, for training and residential facilities for its final-year BSc Forestry students....
