forest patrols stepped up after leopard attack injures 11-yr-old
Mussoorie, Aug. 27 -- An 11-year-old girl had a narrow escape after a leopard attacked her while she was collecting fodder in a village in Uttarkashi district on Wednesday, officials said.
The incident took place around 8 am in Jeshtwadi village , when the girl, identified as Kashish, was cutting grass and collecting fodder for livestock. Forest officials said the leopard suddenly emerged from dense bushes and pounced on her.
Kashish's screams for help alerted nearby villagers, who rushed towards the spot and raised an alarm. The collective noise startled the leopard, whi ch fled into the nearby forest, officials said.
Residents have urged the forest department to intensify patrolling, monitor the movement of the animal and take additional measures to prevent further attacks.
Officials said patrolling has been increased in and around Jeshtwadi following the incident. All forest outposts in the area have also been alerted. htc...
