Kanpur, Sept. 12 -- In a village where making a mobile call often means stepping out and hunting for a spot with a signal, residents of Hardauli in Bindki, Fatehpur, took their frustration a step too far on Thursday evening - tying a mobile tower worker to the very tower they wanted fixed and holding him for several hours. The irony was not lost on anyone: the villagers used a mobile phone to record the incident and upload it to social media, helping bring the police to the spot. Police rescued Aditya Bhan Singh after the video surfaced. On Friday, Bindki Kotwali police registered an FIR on his complaint. SHO Shailesh Kumar Singh said the case was registered under Section 127(2) of the BNS following which six people were arrested. Further investigation is underway. Singh had reached Hardauli around 5pm after residents complained about poor network coverage. Villagers allegedly told him he would not be released until the connectivity problem was resolved. The private mobile company had installed the tower about two years ago, but residents said poor connectivity continued to disrupt phone calls and internet use, affecting routine and essential work.
