Food dept destroys adulterated khoya, chhena worth Rs.1.60L
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 26 -- The food safety and drug administration (FSDA) department stepped up its campaign against food adulteration ahead of Raksha Bandhan, destroying 349 kg of suspected khoya and 80 kg of chhena sweets during raids across the district on Tuesday.
The destroyed inventory carried an estimated market value of Rs.1,59,060, officials said. A total of seven samples were collected and dispatched to a state laboratory for chemical analysis, with further legal action contingent on the test reports.
The inspection drive was executed at the Khoya Mandis in Mirganj, Kaudhihar and Naini, alongside various sweet manufacturing units, under directions from the FSDA commissioner and the district magistrate....
