Five women held in Varanasi for public obscenity
VARANASI, July 12 -- The Varanasi police Anti-Romeo squad arrested five women on Saturday for allegedly spreading obscenity and harassing passersby near Pillar number 59 in front of Cantt railway station. The action was taken under the police commissioner's directives and is part of an ongoing campaign against crime and criminals in the district.
A police officer said that police received a tip-off that five women were harassing passersby by making obscene gestures near the Cantonment railway station. Immediately, an Anti-Romeo squad from Sigra police station, led by sub-inspectors Kajol and Premlata Singh reached the spot and arrested the women near the Bharat Petroleum pump.
