Haridwar, May 30 -- Police on Friday registered a kidnapping case after a five-month-old girl allegedly went missing from the Vishnu Ghat area in Haridwar while her parents were asleep, officials said.
According to police, the complainant, Pushpendra Singh, a resident of Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh, had come to Haridwar with his wife and their five-month-old daughter who has been named Guari..
The family was reportedly sleeping at Vishnu Ghat on Thursday night when the child allegedly went missing.
Police said the parents realised around 5 am on Friday that the infant was missing and immediately searched the nearby area before approaching the police.
Kundan Singh Rana, station house officer of the city police station, said, "A kidnapping case has been registered against an unknown person on the complaint of the child's parents. Search operations are being carried out at Ganga ghats, bus stands, railway stations, dharamshalas and lodges. CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being examined."
Police officials said teams had been deployed to trace the missing infant and officials from nearby districts have also been alerted regarding the missing report....
