PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 12 -- Five LPG delivery workers were arrested on Tuesday in Pratapgarh after police caught them siphoning cooking gas from filled cylinders into empty ones. Authorities seized 96 cylinders, including 12 empty ones, from an orchard in Sakrauli village where the illegal activity was taking place. According to police, the accused, who were assigned to an LPG agency in Katra Medniganj, diverted their delivery vehicles to the orchard instead of completing their scheduled deliveries. At the site, they allegedly broke the seals of filled cylinders, siphoned approximately four kilograms of gas from each into empty canisters, and then resealed them. Acting on information provided by local residents, a police team led by Dehat Kotwali station house officer (SHO) Pushpraj Singh raided the orchard and arrested the men while they were refilling the cylinders. The equipment used for siphoning the gas was also recovered at the scene. "People who took the cylinders from the godown for distribution were not employees of the company or agency. They used to transport the cylinders in their own vehicles for delivery," said Pankaj Singh, ARO, food and civil supplies department, Pratapgarh....
