VARANASI, June 30 -- A joint team of Rohaniya police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) has arrested five accused in connection with the murder of a shopkeeper in Awaleshpur, with investigators claiming the crime was linked to a failed attempt to steal the victim's mobile phone after identifying a bank account containing about Rs.26 lakh.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Varuna) Pramod Kumar said three accused-Ayush Patel alias Bhola (21), Manish Singh (22) and Aman Seth (22)-were arrested near Aryan School in Akhri on Sunday, while Gianshu Patel alias Babu (19) and Sushil Patel alias Golu (20) were apprehended after a police encounter near MP Memorial School in Karasada on Monday.

On the night of June 8, two accused allegedly chased Jitendra on a motorcycle and shot him while he was returning home after closing his shop. Though critically injured, he managed to reach home before succumbing to his injuries.
