Five caught bypassing meters, FIRs lodged
Lucknow, Sept. 3 -- The Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) officials intensified their crackdown on power theft in Lucknow on Wednesday, detecting five cases of electricity theft during targeted raids in Amausi and Gomti Nagar areas. FIRs have been lodged against all the consumers found indulging in illegal power use.
In the Amausi area, departmental and vigilance teams conducted early-morning raids on selected "success story" feeders. Of the 47 connections checked, four consumers were found stealing electricity by bypassing their meters.
Officials said the accused were found drawing power without allowing the electricity to pass through the meter, thereby concealing actual consumption. The detected load in these cases ranged from 2.416 kW to 3.174 kW, with one case involving a 3 kW load.
FIRs under Section 135 of the Electricity Act have been lodged against the four consumers.
A separate checking drive was conducted in Gomti Nagar, covering areas fed by Sugamau and Amrai Gaon substations....
