LUCKNOW, July 28 -- The Lucknow police on Monday arrested five people, including a 70-year-old man, in connection with the abduction and rape of a 16-year-old girl in the Mohanlalganj area. The arrested accused were identified as Dwarika Raidas (70), Vinod Rawat (20), Durgesh Rawat (26), Khushbu (23), and Rabia (18). Police records indicate that some of the accused, including Durgesh and Raidas, have prior criminal histories involving cases under the IPC and the Arms Act. Deputy commissioner of police (South) Mohd Mushtaq said a police team was constituted to trace the suspects and the accused were apprehended from the Puranpur village area near Kisan Path on Sunday, police said. According to officials, the case was registered on July 24 after the victim's family reported her missing. The family stated that the girl had left home without informing anyone on July 17. After a search, the family discovered that she had been lured away by a couple, Durgesh Rawat and his wife, Khushbu, and was being held captive at their residence. "During the investigation, the girl revealed that between July 18 and July 20, another accused, Rabia, along with her husband, Vinod, took her to a hotel in the PGI area on a motorcycle. The victim alleged that at the hotel, Rabia introduced her to Dwarika Raidas, a resident of Asrafnagar Dhudwa, who then sexually assaulted her over the course of three days," said ADCP South Vasantah Rallapalli. Acting on the complaint, the Mohanlalganj police registered an FIR under Sections 137(2), 61(2), and 64(2)(m) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. "The investigation revealed a coordinated effort. While Durgesh, Khushbu, and Vinod were involved in luring and abducting the victim, Rabia actively facilitated the hotel stay and the assault by bringing the main accused, Raidas, to the victim," police's statement read....
