LUCKNOW, Aug. 6 -- The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has lodged an FIR against a YouTube channel for allegedly circulating misleading information regarding the ongoing police constable direct recruitment-2025 process, claiming the video created confusion among candidates and disrupted the integrity of the selection process, said officials. The FIR, which surfaced on August 5, was registered at Hussainganj police station on a complaint filed by inspector Upendra Singh, vigilance inspector with the UPPRPB. It was registered under Sections 221 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and Section 66D of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008, said ACP (Hazratganj) Rajneesh Kumar. According to the complaint, the board had conducted the written examination for direct recruitment to the posts of civil police constable and equivalent positions between June 8 and 10, 2026. Following the examination, the board released the cut-off list for the next stage of the recruitment process -document verification and physical standard test - on July 31, 2026. To ensure transparency and safeguard the integrity of the recruitment process, the board said it has been continuously monitoring social media platforms, including WhatsApp, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Telegram, through its dedicated social media monitoring cell. During monitoring on August 3, officials identified a video uploaded on YouTube - 'Mohit Sir Gurukul' - 'UP Police Constable Result Scam | Booklets mein hua ghotala | UP constable cut-off'. The complaint alleged that the video falsely claimed irregularities in the recruitment process without verifying facts. According to the recruitment board, the answer key is generated only after candidates correctly enter the unique booklet number of their question paper. Officials alleged that the video ignored this process and presented misleading claims suggesting manipulation in the examination and cut-off process. The board contended that the video was circulated without authorisation and by misusing electronic media and computer networks, with the potential to create panic and confusion among thousands of candidates participating in the recruitment process.
