PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 15 -- Naini police have registered an FIR against Jitendra Prasad Saroj, son of former Apna Dal (S) MLA Jamuna Prasad Saroj, and several others for allegedly attempting to encroach upon land belonging to a society and carrying out construction work through intimidation. The FIR was registered on a complaint by Amar Bahadur, president of the society. He alleged that the accused tried to take possession of society land in Maheva Purab Patti Upahar under Naini police station limits and threatened members who opposed the alleged encroachment. Naini SHO Brijesh Gautam said police would examine revenue records, maps and other documents to establish ownership and possession. Atarsuiya police have registered a case against Shivanand Verma, brother of BJP's Mutthiganj division president Parmanand Verma, for allegedly making offensive remarks against the Brahmin community on social media. According to police, advocate Varun Tripathi lodged a complaint alleging that Shivanand used abusive and derogatory language against the community in a video uploaded on Facebook on September 13. A 28-year-old JCB owner was allegedly murdered by his maternal cousin and an accomplice following an argument during a drinking session. Police arrested both accused within 24 hours. Ravi Yadav of Balipur village was found dead inside his car in Mahamadpur village on Sunday night. Police said he had been drinking with Sandeep Yadav and Shanu Yadav when an argument broke out after Ravi allegedly made an objectionable remark about marrying Sandeep's sister. The accused allegedly attacked Ravi with a brick and later placed his body inside his car. Police recovered the blood-stained brick and other belongings. Aaspur Devsara police in Pratapgarh arrested Santosh Kumar Yadav, who was wanted in a Rs 53.90 lakh microfinance fraud and criminal conspiracy case. Police said Santosh, a resident of Bhiti village in Sultanpur, was arrested near the Chanda-Kadipur road following a tip-off. The case was registered in September 2025 on a complaint by Gyanendra Yadav, regional manager of a micro finance company. According to police, the accused, including company officials, field staff and outside brokers, allegedly prepared forged documents in the names of 138 members across 18 villages and fraudulently obtained loans worth Rs 53.90 lakh. Police are searching for the remaining accused....
