LUCKNOW, May 15 -- An FIR has been registered at the Hazratganj police station against Member of Legislative Council (MLC), Uttar Pradesh, Akshay Pratap Singh, also known as Gopal Ji, and four other named individuals, following allegations of forgery, cheating and manipulation of partnership firm records in a conspiracy to seize assets valued at over Rs.5 crore. The case was filed on Thursday, May 14, 2026, under Sections 420 (cheating) and 465 (forgery) of the Indian Penal Code, after a Lucknow court issued directions under Section 156(3) CrPC. The complainant, Bhanvi Kumari Singh, wife of former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, alleged that forged documents and fake signatures were used to illegally alter the ownership structure and address of the partnership firm, "M/s Sarang Enterprises." Bhanvi stated she and businessman Yashodhan Shetty jointly registered "M/s Sarang Enterprises" in Lucknow on February 10, 2014. The firm allegedly acquired valuable movable and immovable properties over the years, with a total market value exceeding Rs.5 crore, which remained under her possession. The complaint alleged that between November 2020 and September 2022, Akshay Pratap Singh and his associates conspired to take control of the firm by fabricating documents and creating fake signatures in partnership-related records. Bhanvi also claimed that certified copies of the firm's registration records, obtained in September 2022, revealed that Akshay Pratap Singh had fraudulently shown himself as the second partner. This was allegedly done by using forged signatures of the original partner, Yashodhan Shetty, and fake signatures in Bhanvi's name without her knowledge or consent.
