Haldwani, Aug. 31 -- An FIR has been registered against Pahadi Army founder Harish Rawat and six others, along with 42 unidentified people, following an alleged ruckus during a bhandara at Shani Temple in Chitrashila Dham, Ranibagh, in Nainital district, police said on Sunday. The case was registered on a complaint filed by Hemant Kumar Gupta, founder of the Shri Shanidev Maharaj and Navagraha Temple Chitrashila Dham Ranibagh Committee. Police said some people named in the case were detained, medically examined and later released on personal bonds. An investigation into the incident is underway. According to SHO Jasveer Singh Chauhan, Kathgodam police station, preparations for the bhandara had been completed on Saturday and the distribution of prasad was about to begin when Rawat allegedly arrived at the temple premises with a large group of people. In his complaint, Gupta alleged that members of the group abused people and created a ruckus inside the temple premises. He further alleged that temple property was damaged, utensils were thrown around and attempts were made to assault and misbehave with members of the temple committee and devotees. The complainant also alleged that some people were injured during the incident and claimed that there had been a conspiracy to create violence and disorder inside the temple premises, police said. "Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR against Harish Rawat, Ramesh Chandra Manral, Manohar Manral, Chandan Manral, Subhash Kandpal, Kavita Jeena and Prema Mer, along with 42 unidentified persons," Chauhan said. He said the FIR had been registered on the basis of the temple committee's complaint and that further action would depend on the findings of the investigation.
