Jhansi, Sept. 19 -- Uttar Pradesh tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh, who is also the in-charge minister for Jhansi, on Friday asked officials to accelerate civic and development works, ensure prompt grievance redressal and launch a campaign to make roads pothole-free. He also sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for the upcoming Jhansi Mahotsav. Singh gave the directions while reviewing development projects and the implementation of government schemes at a meeting attended by district officials and public representatives at the collectorate. Earlier, he chaired a core committee meeting at the Circuit House. The minister lauded the district administration's initiatives under district magistrate Gaurang Rathi, including a proposal to utilise around Rs 22 crore from District Mineral Foundation funds for road, education, healthcare and social welfare projects. The funds are proposed to be used on the basis of suggestions received from elected representatives. In an initiative aimed at improving waste management, an MoU was signed between Simrawari gram panchayat and Jhansi Municipal Corporation in Singh's presence. Under the agreement, waste generated in the gram panchayat area will be transported to the Bijouli waste processing centre for disposal. Singh also reviewed electricity supply, particularly in rural areas, and asked officials to improve coordination and ensure timely action on complaints raised by public representatives. He stressed the need for a more responsive approach while dealing with public issues. On tourism, the minister directed officials to complete ongoing construction projects at the earliest. He said Bundelkhand had significant potential for eco-tourism and called for timely completion of tourism projects to make better use of the region's potential. He also asked officials to involve elected representatives in the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies of development and renovation works. Reviewing rural housing schemes, Singh directed officials to identify and verify families without houses and sanction eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, even if their names were not in the existing beneficiary lists. For healthcare facilities, he ordered that prominent signboards be installed at the medical college, community health centres and primary health centres, displaying doctors' names, mobile numbers, specialisations and consultation timings....
