PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 16 -- A 50-year-old farmer died after being struck by lightning while he was working in his field in Pipariyapur Ulda village under Nawabganj police station area in trans-Ganga region of the district on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Rajendra Kumar Yadav, a resident of Pipariyapur Ulda. According to police, Yadav had gone to his field around 8 am when lightning suddenly struck him. He suffered severe burn injuries and died on the spot. People present nearby informed his family about the incident, following which his relatives rushed to the spot. The incident left the family members devastated. Nawabganj SHO Pankaj Awasthi said police received information about the incident through Dial 112 at around 11.45 am. Subsequently, sub-inspector Jackie Gond reached the spot with police personnel.
