Agra, April 10 -- Aligarh police, on Wednesday night, recovered live cartridges, fake currency, forged documents with multiple names and other objectionable materials during a search lodged in the room in one of the halls (hostel) at Aligarh Muslim University which was occupied by absconding AMU student wanted in a recent case of firing. SSP Aligarh, Neeraj Kumar Jadaun , in his recorded statement on Thursday, stated that a masked man fired shots in a residential area within limits of Quarsi police station of Aligarh during the early hours of Tuesday. Police obtained the video clip of the incident and registered case under section 191(2)/191(3)/190/109(1)/3/5 (rioting) of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Quarsi police station. "Shahbaz, a student of MCA at AMU was identified as accused in the case and search was lodged for his arrest. The police from Quarsi and Civil Lines police station obtained due sanction from authorities at AMU and raided the room at Zafar Siddiqui Hostel of AMU occupied by accused Shahbaz and found 26 certificates, both original and fake, one laptop, 9 fake currency notes (2 of Rs 500 and 7 of Rs 100), two empty magazine of .32 pistol, 1 bullet, four cartridge covers, 4 live cartridges, and 8 mobile phones (6 android 2 keypad)," said the SSP. A case crime number 170 of 2026 was registered at Civil Lines police station of Aligarh under section 179/180/318(4)/338/336(3)/340(2) of BNS and Section 5/25/27/35 of Arms Act (pertaining to cheating and forgery), said the official. "The material recovered including mobile phones and laptop are being checked for more details and the hunt for Shahbaz continues," said Jadaun. "Aligarh police have asked students at AMU residing in respective halls to be vigilant and inform police if they know about any such student or anti-social elements at AMU hostel room possessing arms or other objectionable materials. The name of informer will be kept confidential," he said....
