faculty body writes to SGPGI director over delay in recruitment results
LUCKNOW, May 16 -- The Faculty Forum of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) has written to director prof Radha Krishna Dhiman demanding that the results of the regular faculty recruitment drive advertised on August 8, 2025, be declared by June 15, 2026, amid growing concerns over delays in appointments.
The forum, led by president Dr Mohan Gurjar and secretary Dr Vivek Singh, warned that delays in completing the regular recruitment process could trigger future disputes over seniority, promotions and administrative positions.
According to the forum, nearly 200 faculty posts across multiple departments were advertised under the regular recruitment process in August 2025, but interviews are still underway.
In contrast, the institute completed a separate backlog recruitment process advertised on January 29, 2026, with results declared on May 14, 2026.
Faculty members argued that completing the later recruitment process ahead of the earlier one could create complications in determining seniority.
They said candidates selected through the backlog recruitment may join earlier and later claim seniority on the basis of their joining date, potentially affecting future promotions, salary fixation and allocation of administrative responsibilities.
In the letter, the forum urged the administration to issue a clear policy stating that seniority should be determined according to the recruitment advertisement date and vacancy year, rather than the date of joining.
The forum also warned that if the regular recruit- ment results are not announced by June 15, faculty members may decide on further action....
