Haldwani, Sept. 17 -- A 79-year-old former serviceman died after being hit by the Delhi-bound Jan Shatabdi Express while crossing railway tracks near an underpass in Tanakpur on Wednesday morning, police said. Police identified the deceased as Devendra Singh Bora. Banbasa SHO Surendra Singh Koranga said the incident took place near the underpass in Phagpur village. A police team reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem, he said. Banbasa railway station master Suraj Kumar said the train remained halted for around 15 minutes following the incident. Locals said the underpass has remained waterlogged for the past 20 days, forcing people to cross the tracks on foot. htc...
