Ex-MP's brother bookedfor unauthorised procession
MEERUT, Oct. 5 -- Police in Meerut have registered a case against Rashid Akhlaq, brother of former Meerut MP Shahid Akhlaq, for allegedly taking out an procession without prior permission with around 40-50 people and raising slogans in the Kotwali area on September 29, officials said.
The procession was allegedly organised in connection with the controversy over a proposed Hanuman Chalisa recitation outside the Kesarganj mosque.
Confirming it, CO Kotwali Sangram Singh said the case was registered under BNS section 223 (disobedience of a lawful order issued by a public servant) on Saturday night at Kotwali police station on a complaint of sub-inspector Shubham Sengar after police examined videos of the procession circulated on social media. The case was registered for violation of prohibitory orders in force in the district
According to police, Rashid Akhlaq led the procession from the Sabungiran-Gudri Chowk area along with his supporters....
