Meerut, June 13 -- Bilal Rana, the 34-year-old son of former minister of state-ranked politician Riyasat Rana, was seriously injured after unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire on him during a dispute over agricultural land in Shamli district on Thursday evening. Bilal sustained two bullet injuries to his leg and was referred to a higher medical centre after receiving initial treatment. The incident occurred in the Kairana area of Shamli district when Bilal Rana, accompanied by his 15-year-old nephew Sam, visited a field near Mannamajra village to inspect agricultural land owned by the family. The field is located approximately four kilometres from the family's Mayapur farmhouse. According to police and family members, more than eight individuals were allegedly waiting at the site and confronted Bilal upon his arrival. The two sides reportedly exchanged heated words before the situation escalated into violence. The attackers allegedly abused Bilal and then opened fire, striking him twice in the leg. Bilal collapsed on the spot. The assailants fled after the attack, leaving him bleeding in the field and reportedly issuing threats before escaping. Police officials believe the shooting may be linked to an ongoing dispute over a 34-bigha agricultural property. Disagreements over ownership and cultivation rights had persisted for some time....
