Dehradun, June 15 -- Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Suresh Rathore was arrested on Sunday in connection with a case registered against him for his alleged statements in an audio clip linking a senior BJP leader to the 2022 Pauri Garhwal receptionist murder case. Dehradun senior superitendent of police Pramendra Dobhal said: "We have arrested Rathore," he said. The 19-year-old deceased, a resident of Uttarakhand's Pauri Garhwal district, worked as a receptionist at Vanantra Resort in Yamkeshwar near Rishikesh. Her body was found in the Chilla canal in September 2022. In May 2025, a Kotdwar court in Pauri Garhwal sentenced resort owner Pulkit Arya, son of expelled BJP leader Vinod Arya, along with employees Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta, to life imprisonment in the murder case. A fresh controversy erupted in December last year after actress Urmila Sanawar, who claims to be the wife of former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore, released an audio clip of an alleged telephonic conversation with Rathore.
