LUCKNOW, June 21 -- Morning walkers and yoga enthusiasts visiting Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Basant Kunj area of the state capital will no longer have to pay the entry fee, as the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has made entry free between 5 am and 8 am. LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar issued the order on Saturday, implementing a decision taken following an initiative by defence minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh. The move comes on the eve of International Yoga Day and aims to encourage healthy lifestyle activities among citizens. Officials said the facility, spread over 65 acres in the Basant Kunj scheme, attracts a large number of residents every day for morning walks, jogging and yoga sessions. Until now, visitors, including regular walkers, had to pay an entry fee of Rs 15 per person. According to the LDA, residents raised the demand for free access to morning walkers during a Jan Samvad programme held in the western assembly constituency and attended by Rajnath Singh.
