LUCKNOW, Sept. 27 -- In view of incessant rain and the resulting flood situation in Uttar Pradesh, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed officials to provide immediate relief and assistance to affected people. Adityanath instructed officials to provide compensation immediately, in accordance with the rules, for any loss of human life or livestock caused by excessive rainfall. He also directed that admissible compensation be provided at the earliest to those whose homes have collapsed due to the rains. Directing an immediate assessment of crop damage, the chief minister said compensation should be provided to affected farmers at the earliest, according to a press statement issued by the state government on Saturday. He instructed officials to carry out relief operations in rain- and flood-affected areas with the utmost seriousness so that no affected family faces hardship during the difficult situation. He also directed that people from flood-affected areas be immediately shifted to flood relief and shelter centres. The chief minister directed senior officials to remain in the field to oversee relief and rescue operations and interact with affected families.
