Rudrapur, July 17 -- Uttarakhand Vigilance Establishment on Thursday arrested a judicial employee posted at a civil court in Bazpur, Udham Singh Nagar district, for allegedly accepting a Rs.3,500 bribe from a litigant in the name of court fees, officials said. According to vigilance officials, the complainant alleged that a case under the Negotiable Instruments Act, relating to cheque dishonour, was pending before the court. After the parties agreed to a compromise, the court's Naib Nazir, Om Chauhan, allegedly demanded Rs.3,500 as a bribe, claiming it was required towards court fees.
