PRAYAGRAJ, July 24 -- A 70-year-old man was allegedly murdered and buried inside his house in Pratapgarh district. Police on Thursday registered a murder case against his younger son, who has been absconding since the incident came to light. The victim, identified as Jagdish Dwivedi, a resident of Athaisa Pritampur village under Maheshganj police station limits, had been living alone with his younger son, Vijay. According to the police, the house had remained locked since last Wednesday, and neither father nor son had been seen for several days. Growing suspicious, neighbours informed Dwivedi's elder sons-Santosh Kumar, who lives in Delhi, and Ajay, who resides in Gurugram. The two reached the village on Wednesday and lodged a missing person's complaint at the local police station after failing to locate their father. On Thursday morning, residents noticed a foul smell emanating from the locked house and alerted the police. Station house officer Sandeep Tiwari reached the spot, and after the door was broken open, police found signs of freshly disturbed soil in one room. Excavation at the spot led to the recovery of Jagdish Dwivedi's body, which had allegedly been buried inside the room. Circle officer (Sadar) Manoj Raghuvanshi and additional superintendent of police (West) Vrijanandan Rai also reached the spot to supervise the investigation. Police launched a search for Vijay but failed to trace him. Based on a complaint filed by Ajay, police registered a murder case against the younger son and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. A forensic team also inspected the house and collected evidence and also recovered a shovel from the room, which locals suspected may have been used in the crime as well as to dig the pit....
